Phew! What we've been up to!

I feel like I'm running a marathon until December 20th! Here's what we've been up to in class lately- Edgar Allan Poe By  Bob Doucette My 8th graders just finished up with Author's Purpose, and are moving on to study Short Stories, specifically Edgar Allan Poe. I'm differentiating a bit by having my ET students read/listen to "The Tell-Tale Heart" and then they are doing a close reading of a section of the text. They are also examining mood and tone, since they already knew story elements from last year. We spent a day reviewing the story elements in their ISN's from 7th grade, which I had kept over the summer (I knew it was a good idea to hold on to them for them!) and then we were able to move on, which saved us some time! Then my students will read "The Black Cat" and create a mind map using the Heinemann Note and Notice signposts to guide them. I was completely inspired by The Creativity Core   and I'm excited to see how
